As a one-man shop, you have the assurance that your custom rod is handcrafted by me personally. I am committed to quality in my craft and to ensure performance I use all top of the line components to build each rod.
Applications:
Highliner Custom Rods vary from extremely light applications from 3 wt. fly rods or 2 lb. ultra light rods, to heavier salmon, steelhead and even sturgeon and saltwater rods for halibut, tuna, marlin and other big game fish. We can do it all!
Components:
+ Abalone Wrap: A Highliner Signature Feature
Most quality custom rod builders are known for the signature techniques they apply to their craft. Highliner Rods feature the unique use of abalone laminates. This laminate is a very fine layer of authentic abalone shell available in your choice of over 400 colors. Customers agree, it is the most beautiful material found on any rod.
Throughout my years of work with this product, I have perfected a hand applied technique which allows me to bend this beautiful wrap around a rod blank. Once it is in place, I fully load or flex each rod as if fighting a fish. This act frees up the action of the rod blank to assure its highest performance.
At the heart of your rod is your rod blank and it's quality is the foundation of the quality of your rod. Rod blank choices include Loomis, Lamiglas, Sage, Batson and other performance rod blanks. As part of the custom experience, I will consult with you to determine your intended use, application and preference.
Another unique custom feature of a Highliner Rod
High quality guides and reel seats are used for performance and custom design. Please see the detail in the photos on this site for the guides used on my rods.
Hundreds of colors are available for your choice of the color combination of your preference. Your choice of tri-color wraps compliment the unique rod inlay. From vibrant to subdued, any color combination is possible.
Each Highliner Custom Rod is personalized with the angler's name, rod specs and rod number.
